Our summer adventure!

Our first time kayaking TOGETHER!! We took a guided tour from Munsing, MI on Lake Superior! Beautiful day 80 degree day, water temperature was 60 surface & 40 below!! It was a SIX HOUR TRIP together in ONE kayak!

It was an awesome!!!!

Our next stop... Apostle Islands in Wisconsin Lake Superior. We took a boat ride this time because theres 22 islands but we cruise around the 12 largest islands! Beautiful with a great sunset!!

Now lets talk about where we go from here. We started our RV lifestyle in 2010. We went west to California, north to Alaska, cross country the southern states & ended in Alabama. In 2013 we went back home to Michigan to visit BUT things happen & we ended staying for 2 years. Our plan was to stay 5 years to regroup & start back on the road. 

As you know we have Gypsy Souls....our inner voice was telling us its time to move on.

It was harder this time because we have grandkids now plus I was enjoying my time with my sister Dora & my girlfriends. Dan had his hunting time & poker every Sunday( I called it Bible Studies)with his buddies!

We made a decision and we are back living on the road.

Living in a RV I had to make home not just a camper. We painted walls & kitchen cabinets, replace flooring, all new window treatments, & new furniture.

This is our NewWheel Estate Home now!!

Everything we owe is in this rig. We live a very simple life but yet full of life & adventures!  Where are we going??? Wherever the spirits takes us! We are in Alabama Gulf Shores for the winter & when spring comes we plan to go up the east coast & end in Nova Scotia. Next winter??????

SAINT PAUL'S CHAPEL NYC

A PEOPLE'S MEMORIAL

St. Paul's Chapel, or " The Little Chapel That Stood"

It is the oldest surviving church building in Manhattan. Built in 1766, it was the tallest building in NYC. The chapel survived the Great New York City Fire of 1776 when quarter of NYC burned  during the American Revolutionary War.

George Washington, along with members of the United States Congress, worshipped at St. Paul's on his Inauguration Day, on April 30, 1789.

After the attack on September 11, 2001, St. Paul's Chapel served as a place of rest & refuge for recovery workers at the WTC site.

The fence around the church grounds became the main spot for visitors to place impromptu memorials to the event. After it became filled with flowers, photos, teddy bears, & other paraphernalia, chapel officials decided to erect a number of panels on which visitors could add to the memorial. Estimating that only 15 would be needed in total, they eventually required 400!

 

For eight months, hundreds of volunteers worked 12- hour shifts around the clock, serving meals, making beds, counseling & praying with fire fighters, construction workers, police & others.

There are no words to describe whats inside this memorial...it will rip out your heart....

 The church survived without a broken window. Church history declares it was spared by a miracle sycamore tree on the NW corner of the property that was hit by debris. I believe it was God standing tall with his arms open to protect what would  be needed to heal the aftermath.

On our NY trip we came here first before we went to the 9/11 memorial. It was a heavy day. If you ever have a chance to come..it will change you. I can't explain.... there's no words..........

                                                    DAY IN NYC GROUND ZERO 

               Its hard to put into words how it felt...all I can say it felt like it was yesterday...


There was a part of the museum that photos weren't allowed to honor the victims. It was filled with their photos, personal belongings, emergency recusers badges & hard hats, 911 recordings, actual TV live recordings, recording repeating each victim's names with a little personal information on their lives. It takes your breathe away just listening to their voices on the 9/11 recordings.......  so SAD

The attack killed nearly 3000 people from 93 nations....2,753 killed in NY...184 people killed at the Pentagon....40 people were killed on Flight 93

Memorial's Twin Reflecting Pools

The pools are nearly an acre in size they sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood. 

The names of every person who died in the 2001 & 1993 attacks are inscribed into bronze panels edging the Memorial pools, a powerful reminder of the largest loss of life resulting from a foreign attack on American soil & the greatest single loss of rescue personnel in American history.

A callery pear tree became known as the "Survivor Tree" after enduring the 9/11 attack. In October 2001 the tree was discovered at Ground Zero severely damaged, with snapped roots & burned & broken branches. The tree was removed from the rubble & placed in the care of the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation. After its recovery & rehabilitation, the tree was returned to the Memorial in 2010. Today, the tree stands as a living reminder of resilience, survival, & rebirth

One World Trade Center completed July 2013. Cost $3.9 billion

The tower's steel structure was topped out on 8-30-12. On May 10, 2013, the final component of the skyscraper's spire was installed, making the building, including its spire, reach a total height of 1,776 feet. Its height in feet is a deliberate reference to the year when the United States Declaration of Independence was signed.
